Institute of Political Science (IPS) Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, an academic institute specialized in political science, was established formally in July 1985. After 20 years development, IPS has already become an important academic exchange center and research center of political science in China. o8?7nn7=4qP3-1t
Serving the people and serving socialism is the political orientation of the IPS. The IPS strengthens construction study on Marxism fundamental theory for China’s political science and focuses on researching important reality political issues in China and overseas. The IPS provides valuable scientific research achievements for decision-making of the Party and the country, in order to positively and smoothly push forward political system reform, promote socialist political democracy, construct socialist political civilization. The IPS is composed by Eight sections,The Marxism political theory study section,, the political theory study section, political system study section, administration and management study section, Section of Political Culture,comparative politics section, information section and Journal of Political Science (bimonthly) Editorial section. o2!3Pw1?9jo8!4I
The Marxism political theory study section, established in 2010 for the sake of enhancing the study of Marxism political theory,mainly studies Marxism political theory and strctures the system of Marxism politics,also studies the theory of ideology and the trends of the theories of contemporary China.The political theory study section mainly studies the fundamental theories of political science and its branches, including Marxism political science, western political sciences, China political theories history, socialist political democracy and political civilization construction, and reality political issues inside and outside China. The political system study section studies China and overseas political systems and history, comparative governmental systems, and China political system reform theory and practice. The administration and management study section studies mainly on the administration theories, public policy, China and overseas administration reform, grassroots mass autonomy in urban and rural areas. The research of Political Culture Section focuses on how to build the Chinese political culture which, on one hand, is consistent with building of the socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics and on the other hand, promote building of the socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics.The comparative politics study section researches on international politics, international relation and reality issues. The major fields include China reform, development, stability, the political and strategic orientation of some countries, world or regional cooperation organizations, which have important influence on reunification of China, national political security situations, and anti-westernization, anti-separation strategy and consultancy. e4.4Mk8.,PX8+5b
The information section is responsible for maintenance of “China Political Science” website, as well as provides service for researching work of IPS. p,-4zI5~4uY5-4K
The Journal of Political Science (bimonthly), sponsored by IPS, is the sole political science academic periodical that is issued both in China and overseas. Its principle is: calling for unity of theory and reality, promoting China’s political science system construction and flourish of academic research, serving the improvement of socialism with Chinese characteristic. o,:6RI1-3hD,!3f
The IPS is also in charge of political science teaching task of the postgraduate school and administrates daily affairs of China Political Science Association, a subsidiary of CASS, and of China Policy Science Research Association. M7!,mB6;3Cc5.,e

Since establishment, the IPS published large amounts of scientific research works. Some of them exert important influence in political field. Such as Political Science, the China Encyclopedia, edited and collaborated by IPS professor Chen Hefu, China Political System History, edited by professor Bai Gang. During recent 5 years, IPS has acquired a series of important scientific achievements, including “Dramatic Change in World Politics since the Publication of Communist Manifesto”, “Study Report on the Issues of CPC’s Advancement”, “China Society Classes Structure Study”, “Marxism Fundamental Theory Situation Study”, “Constitution Institution Research” and “Construction of Chinese Political Democracy”. IPS has already and will continually exert important functions in collaborating on “On Political Science”, a program of Marxism theory study and construction project, and on “Construction of Socialist Political Democracy with Chinese Characteristic” research. 03:6mn2!9Hd67L
